Nhập khẩu viên nén gỗ và vỏ hạt cọ (Palm Kernel Shell – PKS) của Nhật Bản đã tăng trong tháng 7-9, đạt mức cao kỷ lục trong năm (tính đến nay), trong bối cảnh nhiều nhà máy điện sinh khối mới đưa vào vận hành.
Nhật Bản đã nhập khẩu 425.000 tấn PKS và 412.000 tấn viên gỗ trong quý thứ ba, tăng lần lượt 39% và 71% so với một năm trước.

Canada là nhà cung cấp viên nén gỗ lớn nhất cho Nhật Bản trong quý 3 với 412.000 tấn, chiếm 46% trong tổng lượng viên nén gỗ nhập khẩu Nhật trong giai đoạn này. Trong đó, có 56.000 tấn nhập khẩu vào tháng 9, tăng 32% so với tháng trước và tăng 136% so với một năm trước đó.
Nhưng thị phần của Canada trong thị trường viên nén gỗ Nhật Bản trong quý thứ ba đã giảm xuống mức 46%, so với thị phần 57% mà Canada nắm giữ trong quý 3 năm 2018, nguyên do có thể là do xuất khẩu viên nén gỗ của Canada qua cảng Prince Rupert ở British Columbia đã giảm trong quý này. Sản xuất viên nén toàn vùng British Columbia sụt giảm do bởi việc giảm số lượng xưởng cưa và giảm sản lượng khai thác gỗ.
Việt Nam đã có một sự tăng trưởng tốt trong quý 3/2019, là nhà cung cấp viên nén gỗ lớn thứ hai cho Nhật Bản ở mức 181.000 tấn, chiếm 44% lượng nhập khẩu của nước này trong quý. Tuy nhiên, Việt Nam đã cung cấp khoảng 68.000 tấn viên nén trong tháng 9, vượt xa sản lượng xuất khẩu viên gỗ của Canada trong cùng tháng. Sản lượng xuất khẩu viên nén của Việt Nam cho Nhật Bản đã giảm 4% so với tháng trước nhưng tăng 187% so với năm ngoái.
Nhật Bản cũng đã nhận được 21.000 tấn viên gỗ từ Thái Lan, 9.000 tấn từ Úc và 8.000 tấn từ Malaysia trong quý ba.
✨🔥💥THỊ TRƯỜNG VỎ HẠT CỌ (PALM KERNEL SHELL – PKS)
Đơn vị chuyên sản xuất và cung cấp năng lượng sinh khối của Nhật Bản – công ty eRex đang vận hành nhà máy Buzen 75MW tại tỉnh Fukuoka và nhà máy Ofunato 75MW tại tỉnh Iwate. Buzen dự kiến sẽ nhập khẩu 300.000 tấn viên nén gỗ và PKS / năm, trong khi đó cơ cấu nguồn nhiên liệu của Ohfunato dự kiến bao gồm 90% sinh khối từ cây cọ như PKS các loại phụ phẩm nông nghiệp khác và 10% là than.
Cả hai nhà máy điện dự kiến sẽ bắt đầu sản xuất thương mại vào đầu năm 2020. JXTG Nippon sẽ bắt đầu vận hành nhà máy điện sinh khối chuyên dụng, có tổng công suất 75MW của mình tại Muroran, tỉnh Hokkaido. Nhà máy sẽ tiêu thụ PKS và dự kiến sẽ bắt đầu đi vào hoạt động tháng 5 năm sau.
Indonesia vẫn là nhà cung cấp PKS chính cho Nhật Bản trong quý ba, với sản lượng 353.000 tấn, tương đương 83% tổng lượng nhập khẩu PKS. Indonesia đã cung cấp 144.000 tấn PKS này trong tháng 9, tăng 38% so với tháng trước và tăng hơn 127% so với một năm trước đó.
Nhật Bản đã nhập 72.000 tấn PKS từ Malaysia trong quý thứ ba, tăng 10% so với cùng kỳ năm trước. Tuy nhiên, trong tháng 9, Malaysia cung cấp vào thị trường Nhật khoảng 11.000 tấn PKS, giảm 51% so với tháng trước và giảm 58% so với một năm trước đó.
Nhật Bản cũng nhập khẩu 300 tấn của PKS từ Thái Lan trong quý 3/ 2019.

Japan’s wood pellet and palm kernel shells (PKS) imports rose during July-September to reach record quarterly highs amid the commissioning of new biomass power plants.
The country imported 425,000t of PKS and 412,000t of wood pellets in the third quarter, up by 39pc and 71pc respectively from a year earlier.

Canada was the largest supplier of wood pellets to Japan in the third quarter at 412,000t, accounting for 46pc of the country’s total wood pellet imports over the period. Of those shipments, 56,000t arrived in September, up by 32pc on the previous month and 136pc on a year earlier.
But Canada’s market share of 46pc in Japan in the third quarter was down from the 57pc share it held in Japan in the third quarter of 2018, possibly because Canadian wood pellet exports through Prince Rupert port in British Columbia also fell during the quarter. Pellet production across British Columbia was hampered by sawmill curtailments and reduced timber harvesting.
Vietnam put in a strong performance during the third quarter, supplying the second-highest wood pellets to Japan at 181,000t, accounting for 44pc of the country’s imports during this period. Vietnam supplied around 68,000t of this in September, outstripping Canadian wood pellet imports in that month. Vietnam’s September supplies to Japan were down by 4pc on the previous month but up by 187pc on a year earlier.
Japan received 21,000t of wood pellets from Thailand, 9,000t from Australia and 8,000t from Malaysia during the third quarter.
✨🔥💥PKS – Palm Kernel Shell Market
Japanese biomass-focused power producer and supplier eRex is commissioning its 75MW Buzen unit in Fukuoka prefecture and its 75MW Ohfunato unit in Iwate prefecture. Buzen is expected to consume 300,000 t/yr of wood pellets and PKS, while Ohfunato is expected to consume 90pc of oil palm waste such as PKS and empty fruit bunches and 10pc of coal.
Both power plants are expected to start commercial operations in early 2020. JXTG Nippon is to start commissioning its 75MW dedicated biomass plant in Muroran, Hokkaido prefecture. The plant will consume PKS and is expected to start in May next year.
Indonesia remained the primary PKS supplier to Japan in the third quarter, accounting for 353,000t, or 83pc of the country’s total PKS imports. The county supplied 144,000t of this PKS in September, up by 38pc on the previous month and 127pc higher from a year earlier.
Japan imported 72,000t from Malaysia in the third quarter, up by 10pc from a same period a year earlier. Around 11,000t of that was supplied by Malaysia in September, down by 51pc on the previous month and 58pc on a year earlier.
Japan also took 300t of PKS from Thailand during the third quarter.
